A scheduled cargo jet of FedEx failed landing, and burst into flames at about 6:50 a.m. on 23. One of two air strips was closed down at Narita Airport because of this accident.
By the Chiba Prefectural Police’s investigation, an aircraft commander and a copilot who possess U.S. citizenship were killed by this accident.
According to the prefectural police, they rescued them from the plane, and took them to the hospital at about 8 a.m., but they were confirmed dead.
Because of the influence of this accident, both of Japan Airline and All Nippon Airways decided to cancel 29 flights which go to Paris, New York, London, and so on that arrive and depart at the airport.
According to the public relations department of Narita Airport, Jumbo jets’ arrival and departure became impossible because “air strips A” which the distance is longer is closed down.
This accident will affect to not only Japan Airline and All Nippon Airways, but also foreign airline companies.
