The Embassy of Japan made clear that middle-aged Japanese people who are killed by altitude illness are increasing in Tibet, China in January 17.
Officials of the embassy alert everyone should understand danger and prepare completely.
According to the embassy, Japanese who were killed by altitude illness from May 2007 until October 2007 are 8 that included a woman.
5 people died at Tibet autonomous area, 2 people died at Qinghai, and 1 person died at Gansu.
6 of them were over 60 years old, and the oldest man is 88 years old.
There were 2 cases that patients were taken them to Japan, and escaped death after the sideration.
According to Pekingese Asian travel firm, a tour that visits Tibet autonomous with catch phrase, “rarely visited regions”, is famous among middle-aged people.
In 2006, the Qingzang railway that connecting the autonomous and Qinghai, and running the world’s highest spot as railroad was opened to traffic, and is driving people.
Meanwhile, a hard schedule tour that starts itinerary from current day after tourists arrive to altitude is highly visible.
If people have chronic disease such as cardiac disease or high blood pressure, there is example that altitude illness becomes severe.
The officials point out that many people attempt too much because it’s for once in their life.
There is a case that a person got altitude illness in the railroad and died at hospital where located stop station.
An official of the autonomous has advised to officials of embassy of Japan that people should keep on the safe side little bit because people who live in Tibet take a rest on moving day.
Emergency feed to Japan costs about 5 million yen, so officials of the embassy appeal to tourists to get in tourist insurance.
Tibet is becoming famous sight seeing spot, and domestic and abroad tourist reached about 4 million people, and that is up 60% from the previous year.
