According to the Japanese Embassy in Qatar, 80km to the north of al-Dawha, near a highway onramp around the world's largest natural gas extraction facility on August 31 at approximately midnight (06:00 Japan Time), the car in which 3 employees of a Japanese company were riding engaged in a rear-end collision with a truck at the end of a que of stopped vehicles on the congested highway.
2 people were killed and one was seriously injured.
The Indian driver also received serious injuries.
The two killed as well as the one seriously injured person were all male.
Although conscious, treatment was attempted in the Intensive Care Unit.
At the time of the accident, the congestion was caused by rubber-neckers slowing down to look at an accident that occurred in the opposite lane; the driver may have not become aware of the congestion until it was too late.
The 3 people were returning home when the accident occurred.
